Aspilsan powers Türkiye’s defense projects with advanced battery systems
Aspilsan Energy, a key Turkish battery and energy storage company, provided advanced battery systems throughout 2024 for several prominent defense projects, including the Kaan, Hurjet, Hurkus, Gokbey, and Atak-2 aircraft and helicopters.
These locally designed battery solutions have met critical needs for the Turkish Armed Forces, underscoring Türkiye’s pursuit of self-sufficiency in defense and aviation.
Aspilsan’s journey
Founded in 1981 in Kayseri with donations from residents, Aspilsan Energy initially produced rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries.
Over the decades, the company expanded its product range to supply batteries and power systems for both military and civilian applications, including portable radios, ground combat equipment, and various aircraft platforms.

- Defense collaborations: Aspilsan’s battery systems powered cutting-edge Turkish defense and aerospace programs, such as Kaan, Hurjet, Hurkus, Gokbey, Atak-2 and Tusas drone projects like Anka and Aksungur.
- Certification and innovation: By securing necessary international certifications, Aspilsan contributed locally produced battery solutions to major aviation platforms, further boosting Türkiye’s domestic production capabilities.
Expanding product portfolio
Aspilsan Energy general manager Prof. Dr. Ahmet Turan Ozdemir noted that the company increased its revenue and introduced new product lines despite global market pressures.
Beyond its core defense work, Aspilsan aims to reduce Türkiye’s reliance on foreign energy sources by developing energy storage systems for broader commercial and strategic use.
