Ahmet Akyol, General Manager of Aselsan, stated that they are showcasing numerous products, including the Korkut air defense system, at Eurosatory 2024, Europe’s largest defense industry fair held in Paris from June 17-21. Akyol emphasized that their booth has received significant interest.

The Eurosatory Fair in France features over 2,000 companies from 62 countries.

This year, Türkiye is represented by over 50 companies, including Aselsan, Roketsan, Havelsan, BMC, Otokar, and MKE.

Attending the fair, Aselsan General Manager Akyol says that Eurosatory is one of the world’s leading fairs in the sector. He noted that participation this year has been substantial, partly due to recent developments in the region, with visitors from all over the world.

Akyol highlighted that Eurosatory is one of the most attended defense industry fairs, considering the number of companies and visitors. He stated, “As the flagship company of the Turkish defense industry, we are exhibiting many of our new products here. I can say that there is intense interest.”

Akyol mentioned that Aselsan is displaying products ranging from radar and electronic warfare systems to electro-optics, weapon systems, communication, and naval systems. He noted that recent technological advancements have made drone attacks more prevalent worldwide, and air defense systems have become increasingly critical for all countries.
He pointed out that various types of drones, including swarm, kamikaze, and FPV drones, have become significant threats in many regions of the world. He added:

“In this context, low-altitude and cost-effective defense systems stand out in neutralizing this threat. Here, we are exhibiting the wheeled version of our Korkut air defense system for the first time. Integrated on an 8×8 vehicle, it uses 35mm fragmenting and smart ammunition, forming a cloud of small particles in the airspace to effectively neutralize drones and similar threats cost-efficiently. The tracked version is actively used by our security forces. Now we have developed the wheeled version.”

Akyol emphasized that their booth has received significant interest from various countries, highlighting that Aselsan products are crucial components of comprehensive air defense.

“Gok Kubbe” showcased at Eurosatory

Akyol also mentioned that they are exhibiting their “Gok Kubbe” concept, which includes the entire air defense system, at the fair. Among these are the ALP long-range search radars recently delivered for the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF).

He explained that the “Gok Kubbe” includes the Hakim command and control system, stating:

“Here, we have a network, radiolink, and datalink structures connecting all radars and air defense systems. At the lowest altitude, we have our IHhtar and Sahin solutions, effective against drones through electronic jamming and smart ammunition. Above them, we have our Korkut system, and further up, our missile-based air defense system HISAR-A. At medium altitude, we have the HISAR-O system, and at the top, our long-range air defense system Siper completes the Gok Kubbe architecture.”

Akyol highlighted that the “Gok Kubbe” architecture developed by Aselsan combines all major technological advancements Türkiye has made in recent years. He noted that as this concept becomes more widespread across the country, it will represent a significant capability for both Türkiye and its allies.

“I can say that there is intense interest here.” Akyol said, mentioning collaborations with Roketsan and Tubitak for missiles and with Machinery and Chemical Industry for ammunition.

Aselsan focuses on “game-changer” technologies

Akyol noted that there is significant interest in Aselsan’s radar systems and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) cameras at the fair, stating, “Our strategy moving forward is to produce the best product in its field.”

Akyol emphasized that their brand focuses on “game-changer” technologies. “We have set an export-focused growth vision for the coming period. Our teams have planned which products, technologies, infrastructures, and human resources are needed to achieve this. Every year, with the support of our country and nation, we strive to see Aselsan as a company reaching greater goals on the international stage,” he said.
