Education across Türkiye’s capital will be suspended Friday (April 11) due to expected snowfall and storm conditions, Ankara Governor Vasip Sahin announced Thursday.

In a statement shared on social media, Sahin said recent meteorological evaluations indicate snowfall will begin in the early hours and continue until noon, with accumulation reaching up to 15 centimeters in some areas. Winds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour are also expected.

“To prevent our children from being affected or facing difficulties due to possible adverse conditions, all educational institutions—public and private, at every level—as well as training courses affiliated with our Governorship will suspend classes for one day across the entire province,” Sahin said.

The governor also announced that female public employees with children aged 10 or younger, as well as pregnant and disabled public employees, will be granted administrative leave.
