Ankara Metro’s ODTU station temporarily closed, bus services suspended

The General Directorate of EGO, which manages public transportation in capital Ankara, announced the temporary closure of the ODTU Station, located near Middle East Technical University, on the Ankara Metro.

The decision, made by the Ankara Governorship, also includes the suspension of bus services in the ODTU area.

In a statement shared on the EGO General Directorate’s social media account, officials urged citizens to use alternative routes. “Dear citizens, in line with the decision of the Ankara Governorship, the ODTU Station of the Ankara Metro has been temporarily closed, and bus services in the ODTU area have been suspended,” the statement said.

“We kindly request our citizens to seek alternative routes. This is announced with respect to the public,” it added.

Istanbul Mayor Imamoglu detained

Following the detention of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) on Wednesday, demonstrations were organized at various universities in Istanbul and Ankara, including Middle East Technical University in the capital.

Imamoglu was detained Wednesday morning, along with 106 others, in a large-scale operation. The investigations cover a range of issues, including corruption, terrorism, and the 2013 Gezi Park protests.
