801.5 kilograms of meth seized in major drug bust in Istanbul

Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on Tuesday that 801.5 kilograms of methamphetamine were seized during a police operation in Istanbul.

Two suspects, described as drug traffickers, were apprehended.

Operation led by Istanbul narcotics police

In a statement shared on social media, Yerlikaya detailed that the operation was conducted in coordination with the Gaziosmanpasa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Narcotics Crimes Department of the General Directorate of Security.

The Istanbul Narcotics Crimes Branch executed the operation in the Arnavutkoy district.

Authorities seized a total of 773 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine in 29 separate containers, along with 28.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.

Minister praises law enforcement

Yerlikaya extended his congratulations to the Gaziosmanpasa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the officers involved in the operation.

He also emphasized the ongoing efforts against narcotics, “Drugs are the greatest enemy of humanity! We will continue to fight against the drug dealers who dare to do this on behalf of our country and humanity,” said Yerlikaya.
