65 suspects arrested in cybercrime operations
Turkish forces arrested 65 suspects during Sibergoz-41 operations, targeting illegal betting and sophisticated fraud across 13 provinces, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced Sunday.
In a social media statement, Yerlikaya emphasized the government’s commitment to combating cybercrime, stating, “We are relentlessly pursuing those who engage in illegal betting and sophisticated fraud using information systems. Just as we safeguard our land, our virtual patrols are on duty 24/7 in cyberspace.”
Minister Yerlikaya reported that 65 suspects were apprehended in operations coordinated by the Gendarmerie General Command’s Cyber Crimes Department and conducted by provincial gendarmerie commands in Konya, Adana, Mersin, Agri, Kastamonu, Malatya, Antalya, Mardin, Gaziantep, Diyarbakir, Sanliurfa, Hatay and Karaman.
Yerlikaya also noted the confiscation of two unlicensed pistols, an unlicensed shotgun, numerous computers, phones, SIM cards, portable storage devices, 4,460 bank/credit cards and substantial amounts of foreign and Turkish currency.
He also commended the law enforcement officers involved in these successful operations.
