6 people die in tragic shuttle bus accident in Türkiye’s Hatay

Six people tragically lost their lives, and eight others were injured after a worker shuttle bus crashed into a parked truck on the Antakya-Reyhanli highway, near the Uzumdali neighborhood in Turkish city of Hatay.

The accident occurred when a shuttle bus, with license plate 31 C 0004, collided with a stationary truck, plate number 31 B 2646. The identities of the driver and some victims are still being determined.

Authorities quickly responded to the scene, dispatching emergency health teams, gendarmerie, and police.

Those who lost their lives in the accident include Mehmet Kocak (15), Omer Erdogan (17), Ahmet Akarsu (18), Mehmet Albayrak (19), Omer Albayrak (21), and Halil Albayrak (24). The injured were transported to local hospitals for treatment, with one individual reported in critical condition.

‘Teams working thoroughly’

Hatay Governor Mustafa Masatli visited the site for an inspection and informed reporters regarding the incident.

He confirmed the tragic outcome of the crash and offered his condolences to the victims’ families, stating, “Our teams are working thoroughly on the incident. It’s a sad event, and I extend my condolences to the families of the victims and wish a swift recovery to the injured.”

Meanwhile, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, “I wish Allah’s mercy to our brothers who lost their lives in the tragic traffic accident in Hatay today, and a speedy recovery to those who were injured,” referring to the accident in Hatay during his speech at a program on Saturday.
