4.9 magnitude earthquake strikes Türkiye’s Elazig

A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck the Sivrice district of Elazig, Türkiye, on Sunday night, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The earthquake, which occurred at 9:09 p.m. local time at a depth of 11.31 kilometers, was felt across several provinces, including Malatya, Tunceli, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Kahramanmaras, Sanliurfa, Gaziantep, Erzincan, and Sivas.
AFAD said in a statement that no immediate damage or casualties had been reported. Field assessments and inspections were ongoing late Sunday, it added.
Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum said authorities were closely monitoring the situation. “There have been no reports of major damage so far,” Kurum said in a post on social media, wishing well-being to affected residents.
Local authorities in Elazig, Malatya, and Adiyaman also reported that no significant damage or injuries had been detected as of late Sunday, while search and monitoring efforts continued.
