A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck the Gulf of Antalya at 4:51 p.m. local time, according to information published on the website of Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) beneath the seabed. No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been issued.

‘No negative incidents have been reported so far’

Alanya District Governor Fatih Urkmezer told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the 4.5 magnitude earthquake was felt in the district center.

Urkmezer stated that teams are conducting inspections regarding the earthquake, saying, “So far, no negative incidents have been reported to us. Since it occurred off the coast of Alanya Castle, we felt it a bit more strongly.”

He extended his “get well soon” wishes to all citizens.

My dear fellow citizens, there was an earthquake that was felt intensely in our district. There is no negativity that has reached our units so far. Our field work continues in cooperation with the Metropolitan Municipality and Alanya Municipality. Get well soon to our district and region.

The Antalya Governorship also issued a statement regarding the earthquake. In a post shared on social media, it was stated, “No adverse incidents have been reported to our institutions. Field inspections are ongoing.”

Residents who felt the earthquake experienced moments of panic.
