4.1 magnitude quake hits Marmara Sea
A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Marmara Sea, according to initial data released by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).
While a major earthquake is expected to affect the Marmara Region, especially Istanbul, a significant earthquake struck off the coast of Balıkesir in the Marmara Sea. AFAD has released the initial data.
The earthquake occurred off the coast of Marmara Island at a depth of 7.18 km and was felt in Tekirdag and Balikesir.
On the other hand, Kandilli Observatory announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 4.4.
