3 pro-opposition journalists detained in Türkiye after controversial report
Turkish pro-opposition journalist Baris Pehlivan has been taken into custody following an investigation into his recent report where he published his secretly recorded conversation with a state official.
Along with Pehlivan, pro-opposition Halk TV’s news director Serhan Asker and program host Seda Selek have also been detained.
Pehlivan is accused of violating the law as he published both voice recordings and the text of his conversation with a state official.
Pehlivan detained in front of channel’s headquarters
Pehlivan was detained in front of Halk TV’s headquarters, while Asker was taken into custody in Ankara.
Pehlivan is currently being transported to the Istanbul Police Department. It has also been confirmed that Selek was detained as well.
