11 suspects detained in anti-Daesh operation in Izmir
Eleven suspects were detained during an operation targeting the terrorist organization Daesh in Izmir.
Following investigations conducted by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau, arrest warrants were issued for 11 individuals identified as conducting organizational activities in Menemen.
During the operation, weapons, organizational publications and numerous digital materials were seized from the residences of the captured suspects.
Moreover, it was determined that the 11 detained individuals were connected to 20 suspects arrested in an anti-Daesh operation in Izmir on May 18, 2024.
Daesh gained influence by exploiting the power vacuum in Syria and Iraq during the Arab Spring and subsequently carried out terrorist attacks in many countries worldwide.
Türkiye has conducted numerous successful operations within its borders and beyond in the fight against Daesh.
