100 suspected Daesh terrorists arrested in Türkiye’s multi-province operations
Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 100 suspected members of the Daesh terrorist organization have been detained in nationwide operations spanning 24 provinces over the past week.
‘Eliminating terrorism at its source’
The operations, codenamed “GURZ-41” and “GURZ-42,” were conducted by law enforcement and gendarmerie units as part of Türkiye’s ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
“During the past week, in 24 provinces, 100 suspected Daesh members were apprehended in operations led by our law enforcement and gendarmerie teams,” Yerlikaya said in a social media statement.
“With our strategy of ‘eliminating terrorism at its source,’ we are resolutely continuing our fight against all terror groups with our police, gendarmerie, and intelligence units,” Yerlikaya stated.
Coordinated operations across 24 provinces against Daesh
The operations were conducted under the coordination of Türkiye’s Public Prosecutor’s Offices, the Counterterrorism and Intelligence Directorates of the General Directorate of Security, and the Gendarmerie General Command.
The raids targeted suspected Daesh terrorist organization members in cities including Ankara, Antalya, Cankiri, Corum, Duzce, Eskisehir, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Kahramanmaras, Kocaeli, Kirsehir, Mersin, Nevsehir, Sakarya, Samsun, Sanliurfa, Yalova, Amasya, Canakkale, Diyarbakir, Kayseri, Kirikkale, Elazig and Malatya.
Yerlikaya provided further details, stating that the suspects were accused of various activities linked to Daesh, including active involvement within the organization, financing its operations, and spreading propaganda via social media.
During the raids, organizational documents and digital materials were also seized.
