Why was Yusuf Dikec’s gun confiscated?
During a live broadcast on TGRT News, Yusuf Dikec, who won a silver medal in shooting at the Paris 2024 Olympics, made headlines worldwide with his relaxed demeanor during his performance. His statements during the broadcast also garnered significant attention.
“Three days before the competition where the Olympic quota was awarded last year, they took my gun away from me. I dedicate this medal to 85 million people, except those who took my gun,” Dikec said. This raised the question, “Why was Dikec’s gun confiscated?”
According to information obtained by Türkiye Today, Dikec, a senior master sergeant, had his gun confiscated when he was transferred from his position as a manager at Mersin Shooting Facilities to the Gendarmerie General Command in Ankara.
Officials stated that this incident occurred as a matter of procedure and was later resolved amicably. However, Dikec believes the incident was deliberate, which is why he brought it up during the TGRT News broadcast.
Additionally, Dikec emphasized during the TGRT News broadcast that despite all the difficulties, he has been dedicated to this sport for 24 years. He noted that success comes with hard work and perseverance in the face of challenges.
