The Turkish Olympic shooter’s pose quickly went viral, with athletes and fans imitating his style worldwide. Yusuf Dikec’s silver medal win granted him 300 Cumhuriyet gold (22-carat gold coins), equivalent to around TL 5.6 million, or $165,500.
Türkiye remains among the top countries in the world for offering large financial incentives to Olympic medalists.
According to national regulations, silver medalists receive 600 gold coins (Cumhuriyet Altini), but Dikec’s reward was halved as he competed in a team event with Tarhan, each receiving 300 gold coins.
Türkiye gives one of the highest financial awards for Olympic success, while Hong Kong surpasses everyone as the country offers $747,000 for gold, $373,500 for silver and $185,000 for bronze.
Viral Olympic shooter Dikec’s future Olympic plans, continued focus
At 51 years old, Dikec remains one of Türkiye’s most seasoned Olympians, having competed in five Olympic Games.
With his viral fame from the Paris Olympics, many might expect him to capitalize on his newfound recognition, but Dikec remains focused on his sport.
He is already preparing for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, aiming for yet another strong performance.
“I’m not stopping here,” Dikec stated. “There’s more to come, and my focus is on continuing to improve.”
His pose from Paris is even being trademarked after other unauthorized applications were rejected.
His team filed the paperwork following an overwhelming number of imitations worldwide, confirming Dikec’s unique mark in the sports world.
