Türkiye’s national basketball team secured their qualification for the 2025 European Basketball Championship after a tense 81-76 win over Hungary in the fourth match of Group B qualifiers. This victory marks Türkiye’s 26th appearance in EuroBasket.

Group B showdown

Facing Hungary in an away match, Türkiye took an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 21-14. Despite Hungary’s efforts to close the gap, Türkiye maintained a 40-31 lead by halftime.

Hungary mounted a strong comeback in the third quarter, winning 23-14 to tie the game at 54-54 heading into the final period. However, under the leadership of head coach Ergin Ataman, Türkiye regained their composure and secured a hard-fought victory.

15 consecutive EuroBasket appearances

With this victory, the team, led by head coach Ataman, has officially qualified for its 26th appearance in the prestigious tournament.

Türkiye has now qualified for 15 consecutive European championships, a streak that began in 1993. The 2025 EuroBasket will be held from August 27 to September 14, marking Türkiye’s continued presence among Europe’s basketball elite.
