Turkish weightlifter Yusuf Fehmi Genc shatters records, wins gold at European Championships

Yusuf Fehmi Genc, a Turkish national athlete, secured the gold medal in the men’s 73 kg category at the European Weightlifting Championships.

The event, held in Chisinau, Moldova’s capital, saw Genc perform impressively in the 73 kg weight class. He earned the silver medal in the snatch with a 154 kg lift, before setting a European record in the clean and jerk with 194 kg, which earned him the gold.

First-ever European championship title

With a total lift of 348 kg, the 22-year-old not only matched the European record but also claimed his first-ever European championship title.

In the same category, Muhammed Furkan, who failed all three of his snatch attempts, managed a 192 kg lift in the clean and jerk, securing the silver medal.
