Turkish javelin athlete Selene Durna found dead following suspicious incident
Turkish javelin athlete Selene Durna, 32 years old, who competed with the Besiktas Gymnastics Club team, passed away after falling from the balcony of her sixth-floor apartment in Istanbul.
Police believe Durna committed suicide and have launched a full investigation looking into the accident.
Reports indicate that Durna was alone at the time of the incident. Neighbors alerted law enforcement after witnessing the fall.
Upon being informed, medical and police teams were dispatched to the area. The crime scene investigation team examined Durna’s home and parked car.
Besiktas Gymnastics Club bids farewell to Turkish javelin athlete
Besiktas Gymnastics Club issued condolences on their social media page, stating “It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Selene Durna, the national athlete of our athletics team. We wish God’s mercy on Selene Durna and our condolences to her relatives and loved ones.”
Durna was the 2019 Balkan runner-up and the former javelin-throwing champion of Türkiye. Last year she transitioned from the ENKA team to Besiktas.
