Türkiye emerged victorious after fierce matches in the Greco-Roman style events, which took place in the Romanian capital Bucharest. Alperen Berber won gold for Turkey in the 82-kilogram division, while Selçuk Can won gold in the 72-kilogram category. Securing silver medals in the 130-kilogram, 87-kilogram, and 77-kilogram categories, as well as a bronze in the 67-kilogram category, went to Rıza Kayaalp, Ali Cengiz, and Yunus Emre Başar, who increased the country’s medal total.
Top of the rankings, the Turkish Greco-Roman Wrestling National Team demonstrated their dominance in the sport with six medals and 147 points. As they won consecutive championship crowns for the first time, this triumph represents a critical turning point in the team’s history. It’s also their sixth title victory.
Armenia was ranked third with 99 points, while Azerbaijan came in second with 142 points in the overall European Wrestling Championships rankings. The Turkish team’s remarkable performance underscores their dominance and sets a high standard for future competitions.
