Two young Turkish footballers, Arda Guler and Kenan Yildiz, have made it to the final round of the prestigious Golden Boy award, given annually to Europe’s best under-21 footballer. The award, established in 2003 by the Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport, has become a key indicator of future football stars.

Guler, who currently plays for Real Madrid, and Yildiz, a rising talent for Juventus, are among 20 players shortlisted for the 2024 edition. Their inclusion marks a significant moment for Turkish football, as both athletes continue to shine on the European stage.

Other standout names on the list include Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Paris Saint-Germain’s Warren Zaire-Emery, and Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho. The Golden Boy award has previously recognized talents like Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, and most recently Jude Bellingham, who won in 2023.

In addition to the 20 finalists, Tuttosport announced five “Wild Card” entries to the competition, including Real Madrid’s Endrick, Tottenham’s Wilson Odobert, and Juventus’ Samuel Mbangula.

The winner of the 2024 Golden Boy award will be announced on December 16 at a gala event in Turin, Italy.
