Turkish athletes shine with 61 medals at European weightlifting championships
At the recently concluded European Starts and Under-15 Weightlifting Championships in Greece, Turkish athletes excelled, bringing home 61 medals. The event, held in Thessaloniki, saw remarkable performances from the Turkish team, especially on the final day.
According to the Turkish Weightlifting Federation, the national athletes secured two silver and four bronze medals on the final day.
In the starts men’s 96 kg category, Emre Kartal won a silver medal in the snatch and bronze medals in both the clean and jerk and total categories.
Additionally, in the stars men’s 102 kg category, Ali Osman Cinar earned bronze medals in the snatch and total, while in the +102 kg category, Selahattin Altin claimed a silver medal in the snatch.
Overall, Türkiye’s impressive performance resulted in a total of 61 medals: 14 gold, 23 silver, and 24 bronze. This significant achievement highlights the strength and depth of Türkiye’s weightlifting talent.
