Turkish motorcycle racer Toprak Razgatlioglu finished second in the first race of the 2024 World Superbike Championship (WSBK) season finale in Spain, increasing his total points to 493 and winning his second world championship title.

The first race of the 12th and final round of the 2024 WSBK took place at the Circuito de Jerez, which spans 4,423 kilometers. Known as “El Turco” among motorsport enthusiasts worldwide, Razgatlioglu started the 20-lap race from pole position.

From the early laps, he maintained second place and held on until the checkered flag, guaranteeing his championship title in the overall standings.

After the race, Razgatlioglu celebrated with a victory lap on one wheel, honored by his supporters, including Kenan Sofuoğlu, waving Turkish flags. He then donned an alien mask before heading to the podium celebrations, showcasing his gold-colored helmet and suit.

He first claimed the World Superbike title in 2021 with the Yamaha team and experienced the same success with the Rokit BMW team in the 2024 season. In the opening race of the weekend, Aruba Ducati’s Nicolo Bulega finished first, while Italian Andrea Locatelli from Pata Yamaha Prometeon secured third place.

Razgatlioglu’s remarkable season

Throughout the 2024 WSBK season, Razgatlioglu made an impressive mark, finishing on the podium 25 times, with 17 first-place finishes, six second-place finishes, and two third-place finishes.

At just 27 years old, Razgatlioglu set new records for both himself and the championship, having participated in 220 races and finishing in the top three 140 times, celebrating numerous podium finishes.

With 493 points, he maintained a 41-point lead over his closest rival, Nicolo Bulega from Aruba Ducati, who stands at 452 points, securing the 2024 World Superbike Championship title ahead of the final races.

Alvaro Bautista holds third place in the overall standings with 356 points.

Rokit BMW celebrates its 1st championship title

Razgatlioglu’s victory marks Rokit BMW’s first-ever WSBK championship, achieved alongside the Turkish racer in Spain.
