The Mourinho factor: Talisca rejects higher-paying offers in favor of Fenerbahce
Fenerbahce’s latest transfer, Anderson Talisca, turned down multiple offers from at least five clubs, including archrival Galatasaray, according to his Türkiye representative, Deniz Saritac.
Speaking to Turkish media, Saritac revealed that negotiations lasted three months, emphasizing Fenerbahce’s persistent interest and professional approach to the transfer. He noted that the process was challenging due to Talisca’s existing 1.5-year contract with his Saudi Arabian club.
“Some people were already saying ‘congratulations’ on this transfer three months ago, but the news surfaced too early. This was not a deal that could be completed in a week,” he said.
Talisca rejected Galatasaray’s offers
Saritac remarked that Fenerbahce’s archrival, Galatasaray also entered the race in the final 10 days of the transfer window and made persistent efforts to sign the 31-year-old Brazilian star. However, Fenerbahce created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, fostering a sense of friendship throughout the negotiations, he said.
“Galatasaray approached us not once, but twice. However, Talisca never had any doubts. He has a strong emotional connection with Fenerbahce,” he highlighted.
Saritac also confirmed that Talisca received official offers from three Saudi Arabian clubs and one from Qatar, all offering significantly higher wages than Fenerbahce. Despite the financial incentives, the attacking midfielder opted to join the Yellow Canaries.
“Even back when Jose Mourinho was at Manchester United, he wanted Talisca following his time at Besiktas, but it didn’t happen,” Saritac added.
