Ronaldo negotiates to purchase Valencia with backing from Saudi Arabia

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, currently playing for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, is reportedly in negotiations to purchase the historic Spanish La Liga club Valencia, according to Spanish media.
Ronaldo eyes majority stake in Valencia
The report by Foot Mercato, relayed by BeIN Sports, suggests that Cristiano Ronaldo has engaged in discussions with Valencia’s current owner, Peter Lim, to become the majority shareholder of the Mestalla-based club.
Ronaldo and Peter Lim share a close friendship and even own several joint ventures. Lim is also the owner of the Portuguese star’s image rights, further highlighting the strong ties between the two.
Financial backing from Saudi Arabia
Peter Lim is reportedly keen to sell his entire stake in the club by the end of the season, while Ronaldo is personally interested in acquiring Valencia.
The Portuguese legend, who intends to settle in Spain after his playing career, is expected to seek financial support from Saudi Arabia’s royal investment funds to complete the deal.
Valencia’s rich legacy
Founded in 1919, Valencia boasts an impressive history, including six La Liga titles, one UEFA Cup, one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, and two UEFA Cups.
Since joining Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo has been earning a staggering 200 million euros per year (approximately 208 million dollars).
The 40-year-old forward has delivered an impressive performance this season, scoring 25 goals and providing 4 assists in 30 matches for the Saudi club.
