Turkish national football player Arda Guler made his first start of the season in place of the injured Jude Bellingham. Real Madrid secured a 3-0 win over Real Valladolid in their second La Liga match of the season on Saturday.

In the second half of the match, the hosts won 3-0 with goals from Valverde, Diaz and Endrick.

Despite high temperatures and a goalless first half, Real Madrid broke the deadlock in the 50th minute when Federico Valverde scored from a free kick awarded after Guler was fouled.

Arda Guler shines in 1st start of the season

Arda Guler, who joined Real Madrid in his second season, had only one league start last season, against Real Sociedad on April 26. After waiting 33 weeks for his first start last year due to injuries, Guler took advantage of his opportunity this season.

He had previously come on as a substitute in the first week against Mallorca but became the first choice for manager Carlo Ancelotti in this match.

Guler took all of Madrid’s corner kicks, was influential in the second half, and created three significant scoring opportunities before being substituted by Brahim Diaz in the 69th minute. Diaz scored the second goal in the 88th minute.

Meanwhile, new signing Kylian Mbappé made his debut at Santiago Bernabéu in Real Madrid’s purple and white kit. Despite a strong performance, Mbappé did not score and was replaced by Brazilian newcomer Endrick Felipe in the 86th minute. The 18-year-old Endrick marked his debut with a stunning goal in the 90+5th minute, sealing the 3-0 victory.

Points standings

With the win, Real Madrid now has 4 points after a 1-1 draw with Real Mallorca in the first week.

Valladolid, managed by former Real Madrid player Ronaldo Luis Nazário de Lima, remains on 3 points following their promotion to La Liga this season.
