Peking to Paris Classic Car Rally arrives in Türkiye with star guest Anadol
The prestigious Peking to Paris Classic Car Rally, which brings together enthusiasts of world-renowned classics, has reached Türkiye on its eighth edition journey this year. A convoy of 70 vintage vehicles entered Türkiye via Georgia on June 12, marking a pivotal leg in the rally’s route.
Originating from Beijing, China, the rally has traversed Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan before arriving in Türkiye. Departing from the Edirne border crossing, participants will navigate through Greece, San Marino, Italy, and France, covering a total distance of 14,500 kilometers over 37 days.
Competitors embarked from Erzurum on June 13, making overnight stops in Sivas and Ankara before heading to the TOSFED Körfez Racing Circuit on June 15. The rally will culminate in Istanbul on June 16, having commenced its journey from Beijing on May 18. After crossing into Europe via Greece on June 17, the rally is set to conclude in Paris on June 23.
Highlighting Türkiye’s participation, the rally features two teams from Türkiye. Yaman Besen and Tamer Kiziltan are driving a meticulously maintained 1949 Desoto Coupe, while Ali Eric and his son Alican Eric navigate a 1973 Anadol STC. Speaking about their participation with the Anadol STC-16, Ali Eric noted its significance as Türkiye’s first and only domestic sports car.
The vehicle, acquired from Türkiye’s rally veteran Serdar Bostancı, underwent extensive testing during the 2023 Slovenian Rally organized by the Peking to Paris Rally organizers, spanning 2,500 kilometers over 6 days.
“We are looking forward to showcasing our 1973 Anadol STC-16 on the podium in Paris on June 23,” Ali Eric stated confidently.
The Peking to Paris Classic Car Rally continues to captivate automotive enthusiasts globally, celebrating the endurance and charm of vintage automobiles across diverse landscapes.
