National wrestler Akgul wins 11th European Championship
Taha Akgul wins gold in the 125-kilo freestyle category at the European Wrestling Championship
Turkish national wrestler Taha Akgul won the 11th European championship of his career at the European Wrestling Championship on Sunday.
Competing in the freestyle 125-kilo category in Romania’s Bucharest, Akgul faced his Georgian opponent, Geno Petriashvili, in the final.
Akgul, who won the tough fight 5-4, won the gold medal and became the European champion for the 11th time.
With this victory, Akgul’s superior wrestling skills and success chart were once again appreciated and he stood out as one of the sources of pride of Turkish wrestling.
Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Askın Bak congratulated Akgul, stating, “I wholeheartedly congratulate Taha Akgul, who won the gold medal in the freestyle 125-kilo category at the European Wrestling Championship held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, and became the European champion.
