‘My Dutch mother will be first call if we win,’ says Türkiye’s Kadioglu as he eyes victory against Netherlands
Türkiye’s young football star Ferdi Kadioglu addressed the media ahead of the Euro 2024 quarterfinal against the Netherlands Friday.
Reflecting on his Dutch heritage during the press conference, Kadioglu playfully remarked, “My mother is Dutch, so if we win tomorrow’s match, she’ll be my first call.”
He also conveyed a message to Türkiye’s supporters, saying: “Our fans are our 12th man; your support means everything.”
Discussing his versatility on the field, Kadioglu noted: “I’ve played as a number 10 and on the right wing before settling into the left-back position, where I feel comfortable.”
Recalling a memorable match in November, he added: “Scoring in that game was a proud moment for me. Tomorrow will be special too; having been born and raised in Holland, I feel prepared and motivated. We’re aiming for victory, and hopefully, everything goes our way.”
