Galatasaray captain Fernando Muslera, who is considering returning to Uruguay at the end of the season, is open to staying for another year if he receives an official offer from the club according to Türkiye Daily.

With Muslera’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, Galatasaray management is preparing to offer him a one-year extension. Earlier in the season, the experienced goalkeeper faced criticism for inconsistent performances, leading to speculation that the club might part ways with him.

However, after showing signs of returning to form in recent weeks, the 38-year-old shot-stopper is now expected to enter contract negotiations.

Considering a return to Uruguay

According to Takvim, Muslera, who has been with Galatasaray since 2011, is considering finishing his career in Uruguay.

While he hopes to return to his home country to conclude his playing days, he is willing to extend his stay for one more season if Galatasaray makes a formal offer.

Since joining the club, Muslera has made 543 appearances, kept 190 clean sheets, and won 17 trophies with Galatasaray.
