Fenerbahce continued its strong form by defeating Antalyaspor 3-0. Capitalizing on Galatasaray’s slip-up, Fenerbahce maintained its pursuit of the top spot in the Super Lig.

Legendary coach Jose Mourinho has made history, becoming the first foreign manager since former Fenerbahce head coach late Christoph Daum to achieve nine consecutive home victories with Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce’s legendary German coach Daum died in August 2024. He served Fenerbahce between 2003 and 2006 and again in the 2009-2010 season, winning two championships.

Despite a slow start to the season, Mourinho’s performance in the last weeks gained major praise among Fenerbahce fans.

A historic achievement after 20 years

Mourinho’s achievement marks the first time a foreign coach has led Fenerbahce to nine straight home wins since Daum’s reign in 2004-2005. This is also Mourinho’s first such streak since his time at Chelsea between August 2014 and January 2015.

Fenerbahce supporters showed their full backing for Mourinho, displaying a banner during the Antalyaspor match that read, “We stand with you.”

In the second half of the season, Fenerbahce secured six wins and a draw against Galatasaray, amassing 19 points out of a possible 21.

Mourinho was accused of racism by Fenerbahce’s historic rival Galatasaray after controversial remarks, “Galatasaray’s bench had been jumping like monkeys.” However, Mourinho’s former players Didier Drogba and Michael Essien defended Mourinho on their social media accounts, saying he’s not racist.

Former Galatasaray star Drogba wrote on personal X account, ”I’ve seen the recent comments about Jose Mourinho. Trust me when I tell you I have known Jose for xx years and he is not a racist and history (past and recent ) is there to prove it. Let’s focus on our games, support our brilliant lions and let’s win the league to get close to our 5. How can my ‘Dad’ be a racist.”
