Manchester City beat FC Copenhagen 3-1 in the first leg of Champions League last-16 tie at the Parken Stadium
On Tuesday, Manchester City took a significant step toward the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals by defeating Copenhagen 3-1 in the first leg of the last-16 tie.
The English club’s Belgian playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne, opened the scoring in the 10th minute, showcasing his skill and precision. Despite the setback, Manchester City regained control before halftime when Bernardo Silva expertly flicked the ball into Copenhagen’s net.
This goal secured a 2-1 lead for the English side, demonstrating their resilience and attacking prowess. In the dying moments of the second half, English star Phil Foden sealed the result with a goal, exchanging passes with De Bruyne and scoring in the area.
The 3-1 victory provides Manchester City with a two-goal advantage heading into the second leg, scheduled for March 6 in Manchester.
It sealed an 11th straight win for City in all competitions. There was a massive gulf in quality between the English and European champions and a team playing in the Champions League’s round of 16 for only the second time and the first time since 2010-11.
