The German Bundesliga pay tribute to Brehme, highlighting his iconic status

German world champion footballer Andreas Brehme died at 63 from cardiac arrest, his official Instagram account said Tuesday.

The German Bundesliga paid tribute to Brehme, highlighting his iconic status as the scorer of the winning goal in the 1990 FIFA World Cup final and a two-time German champion.

Brehme’s illustrious career included notable achievements such as helping Bayern Munich secure the 1986-87 German Bundesliga title, winning the 1988-89 Italian Serie A title and 1991 UEFA Cup with Inter Milan, and contributing to Kaiserslautern’s 1997-98 German Bundesliga triumph. 

Brehme made 86 appearances for the German National Football Team, scoring 8 goals.
