Galatasaray Wheelchair Basketball team wins EuroCup 1 title

Galatasaray Fuzul Wheelchair Basketball Team wrapped up the 2024-2025 season as champions, also winning the EuroCup 1 title in Sassari, Italy.

The team defeated Les Aigles du Velay 64-57 in the final aaof the IWBF EuroCup 1, following their success in the domestic league.

The game was held at Pala Serradimigni, with Galatasaray’s starting lineup consisting of Lee Manning, Ferit Gumus, Mahdi Abbasi, Burak Aygan, and Enes Bulut.

Galatasaray led 20-14 at the end of the first quarter, and they finished the first half ahead 35-31. Heading into the final quarter, they were up 49-41, and held on to their lead, winning 64-57 and securing the EuroCup 1 championship.

Mucahit Gunaydin was the team’s top scorer with 17 points. Lee Manning contributed 14 points, Enes Bulut added 13, Mahdi Abbasi scored 12, and Ferit Gumus chipped in 8 points.

With this victory, Galatasaray Fuzul Wheelchair Basketball Team completed the 2024-2025 season by winning both the domestic league and EuroCup 1 titles.

President Erdogan congratulates Galatasaray

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated the Galatasaray Fuzul Wheelchair Basketball Team on their EuroCup 1 victory.

In a post on his social media account, Erdogan wrote, “I offer my heartfelt congratulations to the Galatasaray Fuzul Wheelchair Basketball Team, along with the players, coaching staff, supporters, and the entire Galatasaray Sports Club community, for their outstanding achievement in winning the IWBF EuroCup 1.”

Minister extends congratulations to the champions

Turkey’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Askin Bak, also congratulated Galatasaray Fuzul Wheelchair Basketball Team for their EuroCup 1 triumph.

In a social media post, Bak said, “I congratulate Galatasaray Fuzul for becoming champions of the IWBF EuroCup 1 in Italy, defeating Les Aigles Du Velay in the final.”
