Galatasaray has completed the signing of 25-year-old Colombian center-back Carlos Cuesta from Belgian club Genk. The highly-rated defender has arrived in Istanbul to finalize the deal, marking an important addition to the squad.

Carlos Cuesta is expected to sign a three-and-a-half-year contract with Galatasaray later on Thursday. The Turkish powerhouse will pay €8 million ($8.2 million) to Genk for the transfer.

Versatile defender joins forces with Davinson Sanchez

A key player for the Colombian national team, Cuesta is known for his versatility. Although primarily a center-back, he can also operate as a defensive midfielder and a right-back.

He will reunite with his compatriot Davinson Sanchez at Galatasaray, further strengthening the club’s defensive lineup.

Strong presence in Genk’s squad

Despite having a contract with Genk until 2026, Cuesta has made the switch to Galatasaray after an impressive run in Belgium.

This season, he featured in 13 matches, scoring one goal. His current market value is estimated at €5 million.
