Galatasaray has dismissed reports circulating on social media that star player Mauro Icardi was detained in Argentina following a complaint from his estranged wife, Wanda Nara, who is in the midst of divorcing the footballer.

In an official statement, the club said, “The speculations about our professional football player Mauro Icardi do not reflect the truth. Our player Mauro Icardi is resting at his home in Argentina. We kindly ask that you do not give credence to these reports, which aim to discredit our athlete.”

Galatasaray’s Corporate Communications Director, Murat Bereket, also addressed the matter, confirming to Turkish news channel A Haber, “There is no detention. We received information about a restraining order being issued.”

Ongoing dispute with Wanda Nara

The public fallout between Icardi and Nara, who separated over three months ago, continues to draw attention. Tensions escalated when Nara, now involved with rapper L-Gante, filed an official complaint against Icardi, accusing him of domestic violence.

The conflict intensified after Icardi, recovering from a season-ending injury, returned to Argentina and moved into their shared apartment on Avenida Del Libertador.

Nara, who was traveling with her current partner and daughter, reportedly became upset upon learning that Icardi had returned to the property without her knowledge.

Most recenlty, following a heated argument, Nara filed a complaint at Police Station 13B in Buenos Aires. Spanish media reported that legal proceedings had begun, stating, “Through her lawyer Ana Rosenfeld, Wanda Nara has initiated legal action against Mauro Icardi on charges of gender-based violence.”

Despite widespread rumors suggesting Icardi’s detention, Galatasaray has firmly denied these claims, reaffirming that the player remains at home.
