Galatasaray has become the only Turkish football club to break into the top 10 European teams in terms of merchandise revenue in 2024, earning €85 million ($92.45 million) in kit and merchandise sales.

With these figures, the Istanbul-based club secured the ninth spot on the top 20 list, UEFA’s European Club Finance and Investment Landscape report for the 2023–2024 season showed.

Galatasaray’s revenues surpassed those of French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain, while Spain’s Real Madrid topped the ranking with €196 million. FC Barcelona and Germany’s Bayern Munich followed in second and third place, each with €171 million.

Galatasaray’s archrivals also made the top 20, as Fenerbahce ranked 14th with €69 million in merchandising revenue, and Besiktas came in 18th with €34 million. In terms of kit sales as a share of total revenue, Fenerbahce led Europe with 39%, indicating that a significantly larger portion of its income comes directly from its fan base.

“Clubs are increasingly benefiting from their global fan bases and a greater commercial focus,” the UEFA report noted.

“For the top 20, merchandising revenues rose by 26%, and kit manufacturer deals increased by 6% in 2024, reaching a combined €1.8 billion.”

Expanding across Europe

Looking to build on its commercial momentum, Galatasaray aims to expand its retail presence across Europe.

According to Türkiye daily, the club has partnered with Germany-based 11teamsports to launch product sales in Germany and plans to expand to Belgium and the Netherlands in April.

Galatasaray’s official store, GS Store, recently opened a new location in Baku, Azerbaijan, and is expected to reach 105 stores by May.

Emphasizing the role of both sporting success and improved product variety and quality in the club’s sevenfold revenue growth over the past 2.5 years, GS Store executive Hakan Kemal Sarioz said, “We will continue to live for Galatasaray, to create for Galatasaray, and to generate success for Galatasaray.”
