Sofyan Amrabat, Fenerbahce‘s Moroccan midfielder, shared his thoughts on his transfer to the club, including details about the process and the interest shown by Galatasaray.

Speaking to Haber Global, Amrabat revealed, “I received many offers. I had a meeting with Galatasaray, but I am very happy I chose Fenerbahce. It was the right decision.”

He explained that his decision was influenced by multiple factors, including lengthy negotiations with Acun Ilicali.

“I was in contact with Acun Bey for almost two months. Our conversations convinced me that Fenerbahce is like a family,” Sofyan Amrabat said. He also explained Jose Mourinho’s role, saying, “It is special when a coach like Mourinho wants you. That was one of the reasons I came.”

Amrabat also credited his brother, Nordin Amrabat, who previously played for Galatasaray. “My brother gave me information about Türkiye, Istanbul, the league, and Fenerbahce. He told me to listen to my heart, and I did,” Sofyan Amrabat said.

Besiktas derby: Crucial match for Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce is set to face Besiktas in a highly anticipated derby this weekend. Reflecting on his first Istanbul derby against Galatasaray earlier this season, Amrabat described the experience as unforgettable. “The Galatasaray derby was my first, and the atmosphere was incredible,” he recalled.

Amrabat is prepared for another intense clash, saying, “We know how important the Besiktas match is. Besiktas may not be in the best form right now, but they have quality players. We want to maintain our good momentum and play confidently to win.”

Comparing Kadikoy to other stadiums, Amrabat praised its electric atmosphere. “Kadikoy is amazing. Even though it holds fewer fans than Old Trafford, it feels louder. The energy is incredible,” Sofyan Amrabat said.

When asked about what he would change in the world, Amrabat spoke about his wish for peace in Palestine. “If I could change one thing, it would be to stop the war. Everyone is equal and deserves peace. The situation in Palestine is terrible. I pray every day for it to end, especially for the children,” he said.
