Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has reportedly approached Jose Mourinho for the vacant national team head coach role, but the Portuguese manager has declined the offer, choosing to remain committed to his current project with Fenerbahce.

Direct contact, clear refusal

According to journalist Duncan Castles, CBF officials made direct contact with Mourinho, offering him the position following their decision to part ways with Dorival Junior.

Despite the prestige of coaching one of the most iconic national teams in football, the 61-year-old manager respectfully turned down the opportunity.

Focused on Fenerbahce

Mourinho, who signed with Fenerbahce until 2026, is said to be fully focused on his role with the Istanbul-based club. The former Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United boss reportedly sees great potential in his current project and is determined to bring success to Fenerbahce both domestically and in European competitions.

The decision has been met with satisfaction by Fenerbahce’s board, who are said to be pleased with Mourinho’s commitment. The club sees him as a key figure in their future plans and believes his presence can help elevate Fenerbahce back to the top tier of European football.

Other names on Brazil’s list

While Mourinho is out of the picture, CBF is still considering high-profile alternatives. Their shortlist includes legendary coaches like Carlo Ancelotti and former Flamengo and Fenerbahce manager Jorge Jesus, as they continue their search for a new head coach.

Mourinho’s choice to stay signals his long-term vision with Fenerbahce — a clear message of dedication as the club prepares for the upcoming season.
