Fenerbahce will face Lille on Tuesday without one of their key players, Ferdi Kadioglu, whose transfer is being speculated among Turkish football fans, following a last-minute injury setback.

Kadioglu, who was injured during Fenerbahce’s first league match against Adana Demirspor, will miss tonight’s UEFA Champions League third qualifying round match due to a pulled hamstring. The club announced that despite undergoing two days of regenerative therapy, Kadioglu’s pain persisted during today’s training session, leading to his removal from the match squad.

In a statement, the club explained that Kadioglu was withdrawn from the squad, and will not be able to play in Fenerbahce Lillie match “due to a pulled hamstring.” Clarifying that the decision was made after the player continued to experience discomfort during practice.

Ferdi Kadioglu’s transfer speculations

As the summer transfer window draws to a close, Brighton & Hove Albion has intensified its efforts to sign Ferdi Kadioglu, offering Fenerbahce $38.15 million. This offer, which includes $36.03 million in guaranteed payments and $2.18 million in bonuses, is the highest Fenerbahce has received for the versatile player, making it a potential record-breaking transfer in Türkiye. Despite the lucrative bid, Fenerbahce remains hesitant to part with Kadioglu, who has become a pivotal figure for both the club and the Turkish national team.

The 24-year-old Kadioglu has garnered interest from other Premier League giants, including Arsenal and Manchester United, due to his ability to play multiple positions and his physical development. While Fenerbahce is reportedly preparing a five-year contract extension to retain him, the club’s management faces a difficult decision between keeping a key player or capitalizing on a record-setting offer.
