Fenerbahce’s Cengiz Under gets $16.33M offer despite injuries
Italian Serie A club Napoli is reportedly discussing acquiring Turkish international Cengiz Under with Fenerbahce.
The forward, who had a mixed season with the Turkish giants, is the subject of an offer from the Italian side for $16.33 million.
Napoli’s offer for Fenerbahce’s Under
Under joined Fenerbahce last season from Marseille for a fee of $16.33 million, making him the club’s most expensive signing. Despite a promising start, injuries hampered his performance, limiting his impact on the field. He featured in 33 matches, scoring nine goals and providing three assists.
Napoli’s manager, Jose Mourinho, drives their interest in Under, who sees the winger as a valuable addition. Although Under was not Mourinho’s first choice, the Portuguese manager has approved the potential transfer.
Napoli has reportedly tabled an initial offer of $10.89 million, but Fenerbahce is holding out for a fee of $13.06 million to $14.15 million.
Under’s performance, market value
The 27-year-old winger, who previously played for Roma, missed out on participating in Euro 24, affecting his market value. However, his experience in Serie A and potential to bolster Napoli’s attacking options make him a desirable target for the club.
While open to negotiations, Fenerbahce is keen to get a suitable return on its investment. During this transfer window, the Turkish club has actively engaged with European teams to maximize their player evaluations.
If the deal goes through, Under will join a list of former Fenerbahce players who have moved to top European leagues, further cementing the club’s reputation as a springboard for talent.
