Fenerbahce confirms Ferdi Kadioglu’s trip to Brighton for transfer
Ferdi Kadioglu, a star of the Türkiye national team and Fenerbahce, is on the brink of joining Brighton & Hove Albion FC, a Premier League team.
Fenerbahce’s official statement confirms that they have granted Kadioglu permission to travel to England for medical examinations.
The statement read: “Our player Ferdi Kadioglu will travel to England with the permission of our club in order to advance discussions with Premier League team Brighton & Hove Albion FC and undergo a medical check-up.”
After successfully passing his medical, we anticipate that Kadioglu will sign a formal contract with Brighton & Hove Albion FC.
Brighton reportedly agreed to a 33.5 million pound ($44.28 million) deal with Fenerbahce for the transfer of Kadioglu.
Kadioglu will sign a five-year contract with an option for an additional year until June 2030. His annual salary will be 2.5 million pounds. Kadioglu will become the most expensive transfer in Super Lig history if this fee is met.
Mourinho’s conditional approval of Kadioglu’s exit
Despite his desire to keep Kadioglu, renowned manager Jose Mourinho has conditionally allowed the move following Brighton’s offer. Mourinho has requested a left-footed center-back to replace Kadioglu and is considering Oosterwolde for the left-back position, though he acknowledges the need for further reinforcement in central defense.
Reports suggest that Mourinho is not fully satisfied with current defenders Becao and Djiku. Consequently, Fenerbahce is rumored to be interested in acquiring Calvin Bassey, a left-footed central defender currently with Fulham. Known for his speed and physicality, Bassey’s 16-million-euro valuation makes him a strong candidate to fulfill Mourinho’s defensive needs.
