Zehra Gunes is a young player who has achieved significant international success with her personal achievements and journey with the Turkish women’s volleyball team. Known for her high jumping ability and effective blocking, she strengthens the team’s defense.

Gunes was born in Istanbul in 1999 to a Turkish father and a Bosnian mother. She has two sisters, Irem Nur and Mina, who also play volleyball.
Zehra Gunes is a middle blocker for the VakifBank volleyball team. She started playing volleyball at VakifBank when she was 12 and quickly rose through the ranks, winning Turkish championships in both youth and junior divisions. Before joining VakifBank’s senior team in 2017, she gained experience through temporary transfers to Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyespor and Besiktas.
With VakifBank, Gunes has achieved numerous national and international successes, including winning three FIVB Club World Championships, three CEV Champions Leagues, three Turkish League titles, three Cup Voley victories, and two Super Cups.
On the national team, she has won titles in major tournaments such as the 2017 FIVB U23 Women’s World Championship, the 2023 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League, the 2023 European Women’s Volleyball Championship, and the 2023 Volleyball World Cup.
Individually, she received the Best Middle Blocker award during the Volleyball Nations League in 2023.
