Fenerbahce’s pursuit of Youssef En-Nesyri has concluded. The 27-year-old Moroccan striker, who has spent his entire career in Spain, decided to end his 4.5-season stint with Sevilla, attracting numerous suitors.

Despite receiving lucrative offers from Arab clubs and interest from Newcastle and Roma, En-Nesyri chose Fenerbahce. The personal intervention of Jose Mourinho, who persistently courted the Moroccan striker, played a significant role in finalizing the transfer.

Fenerbahce will pay Sevilla 20 million euros ($21.6 million) for En-Nesyri. Over the next four years, En-Nesyri will receive 16 million euros. En Nesyri will receive a net amount of 36 million euros, excluding bonuses.

Breaking Sevilla’s resolve

Fenerbahce’s willingness to meet Sevilla’s demands was crucial in breaking the deadlock. The Yellow Canaries will pay a 20 million euro transfer fee for En-Nesyri, which is a reasonable agreement considering Sevilla paid the same amount in January 2020 and demanded 40 million euros for him last season. The 27-year-old striker will sign a four-year contract and earn an annual guaranteed salary of 4 million euros.

Mourinho’s key role

Mourinho’s preference for En-Nesyri is based on the player’s exceptional abilities. En-Nesyri is highly effective in aerial duels, and despite his height, he is noted for his speed and ball control. His most distinguishing feature for Mourinho is his ability to convert chances into goals. Mourinho’s game plan sees En-Nesyri as the ideal fit, and we expect him to achieve the best stats of his career with Fenerbahçe.

High expectations for Moroccan striker

The Moroccan striker had his most outstanding season in 2020-21, scoring 24 goals in 51 matches. Fenerbahce expects En-Nesyri to bring significant success and achieve new heights in his career.
