Dancers from 10 countries race wooden carts in Türkiye
The 13th International Tulum and Kemenche Festival turned into a thrilling spectacle as dancers from 10 countries competed in an unexpected event: wooden cart racing.
The festival, held in the Konaktepe neighborhood of Isikli Village in the Ardesen district, showcased a vibrant and thrilling event.
Formulaz Wooden Cart Race, part of the festival, saw a total of 20 participants in both men’s and women’s categories.
The competition unfolded in a series of elimination rounds. Ten contestants initially competed in two rounds of five-person races. The top four finishers from these preliminary heats advanced to the final showdown. Ultimately, Adigeya claimed victory in both the men’s and women’s categories.
Participants’ comments
Ceren Koseoglu, who represented Ankara, Türkiye, shared her excitement, “It was a lot of fun. I had never won before, but this experience was really enjoyable. I was bumped twice, and my cart overturned. I had ridden similar carts before, but this was my first time with such a professional one.”
Aylin Mortazavi, an Iranian Turk, also expressed her excitement about the race, stating, “The race was fantastic and thrilling. I participated last year as well, but this year, I managed to make it to the finals. The competition was exciting and enjoyable.”
The festival not only featured the wooden cart races but also offered memorable moments through colorful cultural events.
