Fenerbahce’s coach, Jose Mourinho, has made a noteworthy statement regarding the dynamics of Turkish football, claiming that “the best team does not always win the league in Türkiye.”

The Portuguese coach, who has been outspoken since his arrival in Türkiye, continued his trend of addressing various aspects of Turkish football in a recent interview with former Chelsea player John Obi Mikel on his YouTube channel.

When discussing league championships, Mourinho explained, “Normally, the best team wins the league, but in Türkiye, that’s not the case,” suggesting that factors beyond team performance may influence the outcome of the Super Lig.

This remark follows a series of criticisms Mourinho has made about the Turkish football environment, where he has previously commented on different aspects, from rival clubs to refereeing.

Despite his success in several top leagues across Europe, Mourinho’s latest comment highlights his perception of the challenges and unpredictabilities within Turkish football.
