Besiktas wins 2024 Men’s Handball Super Cup in Türkiye
Besiktas claimed victory in the 2024 Men’s Handball Super Cup by defeating Spor Toto with a decisive score of 39-32.
The match took place at the THF Prof. Dr. Yasar Sevim Handball Hall in Ankara and marked the beginning of the 2024-25 handball season.
The Black Eagles dominated from the start, finishing the first half with a 20 to 11 lead. They maintained their strong performance throughout the second half, securing the Handball Super Cup and adding another trophy to their collection.
During the post-match ceremony, Salim Ozturk and Mustafa Koklu, vice presidents of the Turkish Handball Federation (THF), handed out medals to the Besiktas players. THF President Ugur Kilic personally presented the Super Cup to the team.
Enis Harun Hacioglu from Besiktas received the Most Valuable Player award from THF Vice President Mustafa Koklu.
Kilic expressed his satisfaction with the game, stating, “Both teams fought hard, especially considering it was the season opener. It was a tough match, and I am glad they finished without any injuries.” He added that the match indicated the potential for a competitive season ahead.
Kilic also praised both teams, saying, “Besiktas and Spor Toto put on a great show. This season, we expect four to five teams to compete for the championship in what promises to be a strong league for the men’s division.”
Kilic also mentioned the enthusiasm of the fans, noting, “The support from the community clubs’ fans was incredible. We aim to create such a positive environment in handball that other clubs like Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and Trabzonspor will be drawn to the sport. We have plans to involve these clubs in the future seasons.”
In addition, Youth and Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak extended his congratulations to the champions, saying, “I congratulate Besiktas for winning the Super Cup and wish them and all teams success in the new season.” His message also recognized the efforts of everyone involved in Besiktas’ success, including the players, technical staff, and management.
