Bayern Munich sets sights on Mourinho’s young star, Yusuf Akcicek

Yusuf Akcicek, a 19-year-old Turkish talent, has attracted significant attention with his powerful performances for Fenerbahce this season, earning a call-up to the Turkish national team. German media has now linked him with a potential transfer to Bayern Munich.
National deam debut
Under coach Vincenzo Montella, Yusuf Akcicek was called up to the Turkish national team for the first time. He made his debut in the 82nd minute of the match against Hungary, replacing Kenan Yildiz.

After his first international appearance, the young defender shared his emotions on social media.
A never-ending excitement inside me, the first step on the field with this jersey, and finally, a childhood dream coming true… Today, I stepped onto the field not just as a footballer, but as a young man who has been chasing his dream with passion and whose prayers have been answered. We achieved this together with our team’s fight and belief! This is just the beginning—I will continue with pride, step by step.

Mourinho’s praise
Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho had previously spoken highly of Yusuf Akcicek, emphasizing his potential and work ethic. After a 3-0 Europa League win against Anderlecht, Mourinho said:
“I had already said it before the season started, even before he played. I want to coach and develop this player. I know that, culturally, more experienced players tend to get recognition in Turkiye, but Yusuf is a very talented player. He had a great run, but he must stay grounded. He is a hardworking and intelligent player.”
Bayern Munich’s interest
German newspaper Bild has reported that Bayern Munich’s scouting team has placed Yusuf Akcicek on its priority watchlist and is closely monitoring his performances.
Although Bayern has not yet made a final decision, the club is expected to continue tracking his development. If convinced of his potential, Bayern could initiate transfer negotiations with Fenerbahce during the summer window. Reports suggest that Fenerbahce would start discussions at an over $40 million transfer fee.
