Arda Guler surprises amputee footballer Kerem with signed shirt
National footballer Arda Guler, who plays for Spain’s Real Madrid, sent a signed jersey to 11-year-old Kerem Demez, an amputee footballer affectionately nicknamed “the Arda Guler of amputees” by his teammates.
Demez, who was featured in an Anadolu Agency interview on Dec. 3 for World Disabled Persons Day, received the special gift from Guler after the news about him was shared.
Arda Guler’s thoughtful gesture
The excitement for Kerem began when Arda Guler, learning of Kerem’s admiration, decided to surprise him. While in Ankara for various visits, Guler called his mother, Serap Guler, asking her to present the signed Real Madrid shirt to the young footballer.
Serap Guler, who visited Kerem’s school in the Yenimahalle district of Ankara, handed over the shirt to him, making the moment even more memorable.
Arda Guler’s message: ‘You will be successful’
Speaking to AA, Serap Guler shared her son’s encouragement for Kerem: “Arda sends his regards and wishes you continued success. He asked me to bring this shirt as a gift. He believes in you and knows you will succeed.”
She expressed her pride in being part of the moment, saying, “This is very emotional and meaningful for me. I hope Kerem’s photos inspire other children. Dreaming and working hard are key. If we’ve brought even a little happiness to Kerem, that’s enough for us.”
Kerem Demez’s joy and dream fulfilled
Kerem Demez, thrilled with the gift, expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m so happy. I’d like to thank Arda Guler, my big brother.
My dream has partially come true. Now I just need to see him in person.” After receiving the signed shirt, Kerem wore it to school, where his classmates cheered for Arda Guler and took photos.
Admiration and dedication to Arda Guler
Born with a disability in one leg due to a health issue in the womb, Kerem Demez has been a dedicated footballer since he was young. His teammates affectionately nicknamed him “the Arda Guler of amputees” because of his talent and passion for the sport.
Kerem, who had his right leg amputated at the age of 8, explained his admiration for Arda Guler, saying, “Just as Arda Guler admired Alex, I also look up to Arda Guler. I’m working hard to be as successful as he is.”
This heartwarming story between a football star and his young fan serves as a reminder of the power of inspiration and the importance of support in overcoming obstacles. Arda Guler’s gesture has not only made Kerem’s day but also reinforced the belief that dreams can be realized through hard work and perseverance.
