Gerald Darmanin, French Interior Minister, has said that Israeli athletes participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, commencing on July 26, will receive round-the-clock security. The announcement coincides with the impending commencement of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Thomas Portes, a Member of Parliament from the far-left Unsubmissive France (LFI) Party, initiated a request for demonstrations against Israeli athletes’ involvement in the Games, prompting the decision.

Portes explicitly expressed that Israeli athletes were unwelcome in France.

The memorial event for the Israeli athletes killed in the 1972 Munich attack will take place at the Israeli Embassy in France rather than Paris City Hall because of security concerns over the Israeli delegation.
