US to defend Israel as it continues massacres in Gaza since October 7
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated that the United States would help Israel if it were attacked. Speaking at a press conference during his visit to the Philippines, Austin conveyed messages of support for Israel.
“I don’t think war is inevitable. But if Israel is attacked, we would certainly help in its defense,” Austin said.
Emphasizing that they do not want the situation to reach such a point, Austin added, “We don’t want any of this to happen. We’re working hard on this, doing things to help de-escalate the current tension and resolve issues through diplomatic means.”
Regarding the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Iran, Austin mentioned that he had no additional information beyond what was reported in the media.
